The art of fixing Vespa scooters is dying. This niche skill is a difficult one to master, especially with the increasing rarity of vintage Vespas. Our mechanic, Duy, has fixed over 1,000 Vespas! Check out this post for more info, and learn about how this scooter became legendary in Vietnam here.

In which Steve becomes a local media source

Yesterday we received a nice mention in a short article posted by author David Lloyd Son, reproduced here. In the article, about the changing face of Vietnamese journalism, Son quotes Steve on being a foreign business owner in Vietnam and working with local media. In Saigon, Stephen Mueller, owner of two businesses – Green Energy Biomass, and Vietnam Vespa Adventures – reflected on the media both here and in his native United States. “Something that the media here has done is open my eyes to how blatant the agenda of some news corporations in the USA are. When I go…

“Best Part of Our Trip So Far”

This is my first review ever on TripAdvisor - I signed up just to give Steve and his team a glowing review for their Vespa tour through Saigon. We did Saigon After Dark, and the tour was perfectly arranged. The food is AMAZING. I was hesitant to do the nighttime tour, since I figured all of the street food in Saigon is delicious, but you absolutely will not find food and experiences like this on your own. It's a great way to see the city, and the vintage Vespas are beautiful, but the food was out-of-control delicious. I think all…

Video Goodness from Amsterdam

Two of our guests hailing from Amsterdam last month enjoyed the Saigon Insider's Tour and After Dark Tour so much they made three videos that they shared with us. Have a peek. And thanks, Albert & Claudia!

A Great Week at TripAdvisor

We’re pretty excited about a couple of things that happened for us at TripAdvisor this week. First, we hit 70 reviews! Considering that we only joined TA in February, that’s pretty amazing. And then we got word from TripAdvisor that Vietnam Vespa Adventures has won a 2011 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. What does that mean? Well, TripAdvisor awards this certificate to businesses who consistently receive excellent ratings from their members. We think our 5-star rating and our 97% guest satisfaction is something to be proud of, and we’re excited that TripAdvisor has chosen to recognize our dedication to our guests…

“Brilliant Tour”

Here's a lovely new review today from a guest writing on TripAdvisor: We booked an afternoon tour for 4 adults and 4 children,(aged 16, 12, 12 & 5 1/2) . The youngest in our group was only small so Steve organised their most experienced rider for her. Also being fair haired she attracted a lot of turned heads as we rode around Saigon and became part of the throngs of motorbikes zooming through the streets. It was so much fun. We were picked up outside our hotel in the heart of the backpacker district and whisked off for lunch at…

Winter (Such As it Is) into Spring

With the beginning of June's rainy season just around the corner and the slow tailing-off of high visitor's season, things have become slightly less frenetic around Cafe Zoom and the Vietnam Vespa Adventure offices (a couple of tables in the back of Cafe Zoom). But that doesn't mean we haven't been busy - or that we're not running around like ants at a spring picnic preparing for upcoming tours. Two weeks ago we hosted a big group for our seven-day Nha Trang tour -- three Australian couples and a pair of Americans from San Francisco. The six Aussies -- Peter…

Two Weeks on the Road

Josh and Walter are just back from a pair of back-to-back, week-long tours to Nha Trang, and we're not sure we'll ever walk entirely straight again. I flew into Dalat Saturday evening to join up with groups, this time a crew of seven who were doing the full Vespa Adventure -- seven days worth of scootering from HCMC to Nha Trang. By the time I met up with them around dinnertime, they'd already been riding for three and a half days, having traded the the pang of sea salt and drying fish for the fragrance of fir needles and wood…
