Escape the tourist hub of Siem Reap and take to the beautiful countryside that exists in the shadow of Angkor Wat, riding pillion on our modern Vespas. This insightful local Siem Reap tour takes you off the tourist trail and into a vast and varied landscape of colorful villages, countryside and rural life.
We start the tour at APOPO, a landmine clearing organization that uses Hero Rats to sniff out the deadly explosives. Then we use small paths and back streets to lead you out of the city to a stunning pagoda where you’ll learn about Khmer spirituality and receive a Buddhist blessing. Continue by Vespa deeper into the countryside to gain fascinating insight into the patterns of daily life. We’ll meet a family of rattan weavers, taste delicious sticky rice grilled in bamboo, meet a local medicine man, and much more!
Our last stop is amid the rice paddies, where a local family welcomes us into their house for a cold drink and a chance to chat with these friendly hosts. After saying farewell to the family and the countryside, Vespa Adventures drops you off at your hotel in Siem Reap.
Note: APOPO is closed on Sundays and on some public holidays.
We take safety seriously! Guests will sit behind experienced drivers throughout the tour.
All of our Vespa Adventures Siem Reap tours include guide, Vespa with driver, helmet, rain poncho and umbrella. As well, we include local snacks, bottled water and cold drinks on this tour so there is not much that you need to bring other than your camera and sense of adventure! For your comfort, we suggest you wear closed-toe shoes (no flip flops) and as we are visiting a Buddhist pagoda, we request that you wear knee-length shorts or trousers and have your shoulders covered or bring a shawl.
No. On this tour we do not enter the Angkor Archeological Park so there is no need for you to bring or purchase a temple pass.
Absolutely! This tour pairs great with our Siem Reap After Dark tour, giving you a contrast of rural day time life and evening local life in the town center. Alternatively, we suggest doing one of our temple tours (Our Angkor Sunrise or Our Angkor Tour) one day and the Countryside Adventures the next- this will give you a complete Siem Reap experience: temples, culture, history, cuisine and local life!
