Get off the beaten path to discover a more local, more authentic side of Hue! The Rich Traditions of Hue Countryside Vespa Adventure kicks off with a coffee or fresh juice at a local cafe, where you’ll meet your tour guide and fellow travelers.
Then hop on the Vespas and cruise through the atmospheric streets to a family temple, stopping to discover the rich traditions of Vietnamese culture. Take a short stroll, learning about the French colonial influence on architecture and the struggle that the locals have to preserve their beautiful riverside homes.
Continue on foot through a bustling local market where you’ll rub elbows with the locals who come to buy and sell their daily wares.From the market, we take a short ferry boat ride to cross the Perfume River and meet with the Vespas on the other side.
Back on the Vespas, wind through smaller countryside streets, getting further from the modernity and bustle of city life. Pop into a small workshop making worship materials, gaining deeper insight to the skilled crafts and cultural traditions of Hue. Then it’s a short drive to a folk art printing workshop. Try your hand at making your own print, while chatting with the artisans and sipping green tea.
Next up, the Vespas take you through scenic rice paddies and other bucolic landscapes. Take a break at an ancient bridge, mingling with the locals who come to relax and enjoy the river breeze. This is a great opportunity to interact with curious Hue kids and other friendly, smiling locals! Loop back into the city where the tour wraps up with a drop-off at your hotel.

This tour is all about local culture and rural lifestyles in the countryside so we do not include visits to the Citadel or the tombs. If you wish to see those sites by Vespa, we have a Hue tour for that! Please book our Hue Imperial Adventures tour – or better yet, book two tours and see all that Hue has to offer!
Our half-day Hue tour includes hotel pick up and drop off. When making your booking, please include the name and address of your accommodation in Hue. If you prefer to start or finish from a cafe or other location within the town limits, please reach out to us and we will arrange. If you are staying outside of town, we may be able to arrange a transfer to the starting point for a small surcharge.
Our tours have a maximum group size of 7. We find this is the best size for scooting through smaller streets, giving ample face-time with our awesome guides and providing opportunities for local interaction, without feeling intrusive. Also, it’s worth noting that our tours are guaranteed to run if only one person signs up- so solo travelers can be assured that their preferred tour will run!
