Starting from central Chiang Mai, we’ll weave through the backstreets until reaching the quieter suburbs. Along the way, pop by the archeological site of Wiang Kum Kham and visit a peaceful Buddhist monastery with an unusual pyramid-shaped chedi.
Back on the Vespas, continue further afield, crossing small neighborhoods and a bit of farmland before scooting up to a hilltop temple. Enjoy the views over the city and join in the local tradition of making a wish by offering a jasmine garland.
The Insider’s Tour next stop is a coffee shop in an arts and crafts district, where you’ll sip a cup of locally grown java and get a glimpse of the city’s modern creative scene. Then it’s back into the heart of the city for a look at more traditional craft- silversmithing- at a brilliant temple.
We wrap up the Chiang Mai Vespa Tour with a visit to an energetic local market. Browse the impressive- and unusual- array of items on sale and tuck into a lunch of delicious northern Thai noodles.

This Chiang Mai half day tour includes lunch, drinks and bottled water as well as all entrance fees. Our Vespas come with a helmet and rain poncho. So all you need to do is show up and bring your sense of adventure! We strongly suggest wearing closed toe shoes (ie- no flip flops) to protect your feet from any dirt or debris. As well, it’s best to wear shorts or trousers as it can be awkward getting on and off the vespa in a skirt.
We include the same site visits and experiences on both tours, however we do change the order so that lunch falls at a suitable time! On the morning tour, the market visit and lunch are our last stop- around 11.30pm whereas on the afternoon tour, we head directly to the market at the start of the tour and eat around 1.15pm.
